Back in 2011, I was working in the design district of Chicago as a young kid out of college, and I was restoring American & Danish modern furniture - McCobb, Eames, Van Der Rohe, George Nelson, Marcel Breuer. It was a delight to be around every day, and explore all the different shops in the area, each with their own style and perspective

I started making my own tables from scratch using solid wood slabs, and combining them most often with metal legs handmade for me for each project by a setbuilder in Los Angeles, someone who could custom weld for me one at a time. It combined a lot of what I loved - Nakashima, George Nelson, and more. I got to know woodworking tools, I sold almost every piece I made, and I got to spend time with each slab, carefully inlaying repairs and beautiful designs, planing to a mirror finish and making my own oil and waxe mixes to finish them in the most sustainable and traditional manner. I also got to combine wood and metal, two things I really love, and still incorporate into my work wherever possible.

“Live Edge Slabs”, “River Tables” and “Hairpin Legs” have turned into buzzwords and commodities at this point, but my love for the style is real - Solid wood, letting mother nature be the primary artist. A lot of these are older works, and the photos are the best I could do at the time
