The first bathtub I made out of redwood was for my partner, Ashley. We didn’t have a bathtub, and moving a cast iron one was a burden and not cheap, so I remembered seeing one made of wood, from a photograph in Japan.

I dove head first into everything there is to know about them, and made one, and then another - this time for the Triesch residence outside Berlin, Germany - designed by the late Ray Kappe. A true honor to collaborate on a project with a real California original. You can read about that here at Original in Berlin

Now, I’m set up to do many more. I offer them in 24” x 60” x 30” tall - just enough space for two intimate people. Extra deep so you can sit upright. Copper drain, and an all organic, natural oil finish.

Small foot tubs and washing vessels in redwood available starting below $500. Reach out for information on your own redwood Ofuro
