Everyday Craft

“And I see: Pound was an axe,

Chen was an axe, I am an axe

And my son a handle, soon

To be shaping again, model

And tool, craft of culture,

How we go on.”

-Gary Snyder poem “Axe Handles”

I love making small, crafted folk objects. Sometimes it’s just what I need, or what a friend asks for - often traded, sometimes sold, always used and loved. There’s something anti-capitalist about this kind of small creation. DIY, in the most punk rock of ways - I make what I need, what my family needs, for ourselves, and try to make them delightful, amusing, and stylish
