This kitchen island was designed for a small space in a San Francisco apartment. It was designed for utility as much beauty. My client requested a geometric, modern and simple design, but one with a natural edge slab top. Maple was suited to this task perfectly, and also matched a previous piece I had made for my client. It makes for a solid work surface, and long lasting out of solid wood.
The drying rack was hand carved out of cherry and walnut, and adds a subtle hand made and organic touch to the otherwise prairie school and modern influences of the overall design.
This piece was finished in walnut oil and shop made paste wax. 36’’ x 14’’ x 24’’
